Full Time Field Engineer Baltimore, MD, US

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $ Annually

Work Setting: In-Person (5 days in office/field)

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking dedicated construction inspectors and field coordinators to be based out of our Baltimore office including the surrounding counties and DC Metropolitan area. As part of our construction team and design teams, there is tremendous potential for qualified individuals to work on a multitude of exciting and innovative projects for one of the largest Water Wastewater firms.

Duties and responsibilities may include the following
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications and work plans to verify contractor compliance
  • Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities
  • Verify and track work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals
  • Observe contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements
  • Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, Time and Material (T&M) records and review contractor pay applications
  • Monitor construction contractor’s adherence to project schedule and sequence of activities related to daily field observations
  • Maintain project redline and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the CM Project team, multi-discipline engineering teams, contractors and third-party inspection/testing firms
  • Assist and coordinate with project start-up, testing checkout and training activities
  • Maintain construction inspection and testing related documentation as necessary
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of construction / construction observation experience
  • Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering work
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Willing to travel to projects in the local regional area as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and related PC software packages used on construction projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in municipal water and wastewater or similar industry construction or construction inspection preferred
  • B.S. degree in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Building/Construction Science, or an Associate Degree in Engineering Science or Construction Management
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) or Construction Manager In Training (CMIT - Construction Manager Certification Institute/CMCI) Certification
