Inspector, Construction, Site Manager

Description

The Inspector is responsible for conducting worker interviews and field observations at construction job sites to support labor compliance and prevailing wage programs. This role involves visiting construction projects, documenting site conditions, interviewing workers, and maintaining accurate records and reports related to compliance activities.

The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing travel and field schedules across multiple project locations.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

• Bilingual in English and Spanish

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and observational skills

• Experience with report writing, documentation, and electronic filing

• Ability to manage travel logistics and scheduling independently

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to work independently in field-based environments

Requirements

• Review project documentation and job walk requirements provided by analysts

• Review active project lists and coordinate field visits

• Contact project personnel to schedule site visits

• Introduce yourself to superintendents and foremen at job sites

• Observe construction work activities and publicly posted wage rates

• Conduct worker interviews both on-site and by phone when needed

• Take photos documenting work activities and wage postings

• Report contractors who refuse interviews or fail to cooperate

• Complete follow-up reports and maintain organized electronic records

• Coordinate flights, hotels, rental cars, and travel schedules

• Prior construction, labor compliance, or field inspection experience

• Experience working with prevailing wage or public works projects
