Urban Built, a Baltimore-based general contracting company serving the Mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone early in their estimating career who enjoys problem‑solving, analyzing project details, and working closely with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to help deliver accurate and competitive project estimates. The Estimator will play a key role in preconstruction efforts, budgeting, bid coordination, and project planning.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed project estimates, budgets, and material takeoffs for commercial, mixed‑use, multi‑family construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure complete scope coverage
- Develop subcontractor bid packages and coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Perform bid leveling, proposal comparisons, and scope alignment reviews
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, exclusions, and potential pricing risks
- Support value engineering efforts and provide cost analysis recommendations
- Coordinate clarifications and scope alignment with subcontractors and vendors
- Participate in pre‑bid meetings and site visits as needed
- Collaborate with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Operations teams throughout the estimating and budgeting process
- Assist with project budgeting, planning, and project handoff documentation
- Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, and cost tracking information
- Update estimating databases, pricing information, and project records
- Contribute to improving estimating workflows, processes, and estimating accuracy
- 3–5 years of estimating, preconstruction, or related construction experience required
- Commercial construction experience required
- Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using Procore preferred; experience with estimating software and other construction management platforms is a plus
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
