Position: Estimator Structured Cabling - Commercial  - Perm

Cabling Estimator

The cabling estimator is responsible for assessing project requirements, analyzing specifications, and providing accurate cost estimates for structured cabling projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings, specifications, and all other construction documents to understand project requirements.
  • Perform site visits to gather relevant information about existing infrastructure, requirements, and potential challenges.
  • Log project information in CRM.
  • Respond to bid specifications, write detailed and concise scope of work, develop cost estimates, and predict the duration of the project.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor hours, material costs, equipment expenses, and any other related expenses.
  • Create and submit proposals, including cost breakdowns, technical specs, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in scope review/leveling meetings with clients.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients and the estimating team.
  • Interact with vendors to secure the best pricing.
  • Participate in handoff meetings with the operations team to explain job scope, potential areas of attention, and other aspects to ensure a successful transition of the project.
  • Price change orders in coordination with the operations department.
  • Stay informed about current trends and technological advancements in the industry.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience estimating projects in the structured cabling commercial integration industry.
  • Experience and knowledge of the cabling/low voltage industry.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Teams (Outlook, Word, Excel) and various estimating software.
  • Highly organized and self-managed with the ability to maintain a consistent workflow through the estimating department.
  • Ability to build rapport with teammates and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must pass a background check.
