Data Center Estimator - Junior Level
Next Level Technician is actively seeking a skilled Data Center Estimator for a growing organization supporting large-scale data center and mission‑critical infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for an estimator with experience in structured cabling, low voltage systems, or data center construction who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys turning complex project requirements into winning solutions. As a key member of the pre‑construction team, you'll work directly with sales, operations, and customers to develop accurate labor and material estimates while helping drive project profitability and execution success.
Responsibilities- Review RFPs, SOWs, drawings, and project specifications to determine scope, requirements, and project risks.
- Develop accurate labor estimates, material takeoffs, and project pricing.
- Create Bills of Material (BOM) and Bills of Labor (BOL) for structured cabling and data center infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, distributors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and lead times.
- Prepare scopes of work, project assumptions, exclusions, and proposal documentation.
- Support sales teams and clients throughout the estimating and proposal process.
- Participate in pre‑bid meetings, scope reviews, and customer presentations.
- Conduct site walks and surveys as needed.
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure seamless project handoff.
- Maintain organized project documentation and estimating records.
- 1-3+ years of estimating experience within structured cabling, low voltage, telecommunications, or data center environments.
- Strong understanding of copper and fiber optic infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
- Experience with structured cabling manufacturers such as Corning, Comm Scope, Panduit, Belden, Leviton, or AFL.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with BICSI standards and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Hot Aisle Containment (HAC), Cold Aisle Containment (CAC), and data center pathway systems.
- Large-scale data center or mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
- BICSI certification or related industry credentials.
- Experience working with general contractors, engineers, and construction teams.
- Understanding of construction sequencing and installation methodologies.
- Highly organized professional with strong attention to detail.
- Analytical problem‑solver who can manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communicator capable of working with customers, vendors, sales teams, and operations personnel.
- Self‑starter who takes ownership of projects from bid review through project handoff.
- Team‑oriented individual committed to delivering accurate and competitive estimates.
