Ground Improvement - Superintendent

Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success of Kiewit Foundations Co. by directly managing the execution of field operations. We rely on superintendents to set the highest expectations for their crew(s) for safety, quality, schedule, cost performance, and team development. Every day, you will bring your hands-on attitude to work on some of North America's largest and most unique projects and to build builders who will shape our infrastructure for generations to come.

A strong technical and practical background in specialty foundations and geotechnical construction is required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are critical to this position.

• Provide supervisory direction of craft workers via the general foreman and foreman, managing productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence for Deep Foundation projects, including jet grouting, rigid inclusions, soil mixing, vibro-replacement (stone columns), vibro-compaction, compaction grouting, permeation grouting, and deep dynamic compaction.
• Liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance with construction drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents and subcontractors, as well as Kiewit staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
• Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
• Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
• Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in the company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.

• 8+ years of experience in the planning, scheduling, and management of ground improvement operations.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience as a superintendent.
• Experience with and broad knowledge of ground improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, batch plants), how to use it properly, and how to rapidly troubleshoot.
• Must be skilled in one or more of the following disciplines: jet grouting, rigid inclusions, soil mixing, vibro-replacement (stone columns), vibro-compaction, compaction grouting, permeation grouting, and deep dynamic compaction.
• Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures, and software programs.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems that may arise.
