As a Senior Safety Manager, you will manage our Health, Safety and Environmental programs on our mega projects, driving a safety-oriented approach to work. Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. This position requires someone with the ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding our policies, procedures and software programs.

Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast‑in‑place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations.

With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.

• Communicate between Kiewit and client management regarding safety matters
• Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications
• Oversee incident investigations, reporting and follow‑through with corrective actions
• Manage multiple complex infrastructure projects
• Work closely with the facility safety manager to develop and implement leading indicator action plans
• Manage and lead a team of 3‑7 safety coordinators and technicians
• Interact with demanding clients and maintain positive relationships with the client team
• Routinely inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, ensuring safety regulation compliance
• Monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on correct behaviors when observed
• Write, organize and implement jobsite safety plans
• Perform daily reviews and inspections of the jobsite to assure compliance with federal, provincial, client and Kiewit policies
• Coordinate and present safety training to support KOS and client requirements, including planning, documentation, and presentation
• Attend weekly general safety meetings, supervisor safety meetings, and daily Tool Box meetings as required
• Coordinate with home office Safety Department on overall program, project training needs, injury management, citation management, OH&S reporting requirements, and other application matters

• Demonstrated experience successfully managing safety for projects over $100M
• Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity
• Knowledge of construction safety, current local and federal regulations, hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills
• Ability to carry out duties in varying environments including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain

Base Compensation: $140,000/yr – $181,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
