Job Title:Traffic Superintendent (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Contracting Company is looking for a Traffic Superintendent join our Traffic Division in the Baltimore, MD area. Traffic Superintendents have profit/loss and overall responsibility for the project(s) to which they are assigned and have extensive knowledge and experience in the heavy/civil construction and traffic/highway industry. They collaborate with and supervise other Field Supervisors daily and have overall responsibility for directing the execution of construction work through the Superintendents that report to them.
Project Superintendents hold other Field Supervisors accountable for the safe, efficient, and timely execution of the construction project to which they are assigned. They work in tandem with Project Managers, Project Superintendents, the Division Manager, Equipment Managers, Safety Personnel, Engineers, and other Field Supervisors to ensure projects are completed successfully, safely, on time, and on budget.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Exercises strong problem-solving capabilities and can lead a management team to ensure projects meet safety, schedule, and budget goals.
Actively manages project personnel and the layout, function, and appearance of the project sites.
Coordinates with field supervisors to optimize project operations and ensures projects are built in conformance with contract requirements.
Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completing projects in a timely and safe manner, with the staffing and equipment requirements as needed.
Assembles members of the Company work force (Superintendents, Engineers, Foreman, and Craftsmen) to start the project. Possesses an advanced understanding of CPM schedules.
Confers with and directs Supervisory personnel as well as subcontractors engaged in the planning and execution of work on the project.
Leads construction planning, means and methods evaluations, project scheduling, quality control, and job site safety.
Holds responsibility for and possesses capability to successfully complete a set scope of work on a project, including all Superintendent responsibilities.
Monitors safety, schedule, and cost and makes necessary adjustments to operations in support of established goals, budgets, and contract requirements.
Possesses basic knowledge of cost and revenue projection process. Monitors progress and cost reports and adjusts schedules as indicated by those reports.
Ensures the preparation of final field records for the project, including as-built documents.
Maintains an extensive knowledge of relevant equipment, materials, and means and methods.
Possesses strong rapport with labor resources and the ability to effectively direct their activities on site.
Displays proficiency in computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Viewpoint, and Heavy Job. Engages and is proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations.
Education and/or
Experience:
10 years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in highway lighting, traffic signals, signing, electrical, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS). Minimum of 5 years of management experience. Experience in cost and schedule control.
