They are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join their Baltimore office and support the successful delivery of projects across Maryland and Washington, DC.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with 3-5 years of experience who is looking to take the next step in their project management career.
Candidates who have gained experience with a larger General Contractor such as Clark Construction, HITT Contracting, DPR Construction, or a similar organization would be particularly well suited to the role.
About the RoleAs an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the Project Manager with the administrative, commercial, and financial management of construction projects from start to finish.
You’ll work closely with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with contract requirements.
The successful candidate will be based from the Baltimore office, with regular site visits to active projects throughout Maryland and Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Project Manager with day-to-day project management and coordination.
- Manage project documentation including contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and purchase orders.
- Assist with reviewing and validating vendor and subcontractor invoices.
- Support project financial tracking, including budgets, actual costs, billing, and overall project performance.
- Assist with customer billing requirements and project reporting.
- Maintain complete and accurate project files, including contracts, bonds, insurance, safety documentation, specifications, and executed subcontracts.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and project correspondence.
- Review field reports and communicate project updates to internal and external teams.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist with project scheduling and cost-loaded schedules.
- Support compliance with contract requirements, government reporting, prevailing wage requirements, and project documentation standards.
- Monitor project progress and assist with ensuring key milestones and financial targets are achieved.
- Provide general support to the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
- 3-5 years of construction experience, ideally within a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar position.
- Experience working for a larger General Contractor is highly desirable.
- Experience with companies such as Clark, HITT, DPR, or similar national/regional GCs would be advantageous.
- Federal, government, civil, or commercial construction experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Understanding of construction contracts, specifications, cost control, and project documentation.
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, scheduling, and project financials.
- Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and One Drive.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Maryland and Washington, DC.
- $90, base salary, depending on experience.
