Our client is hiring an early-career Associate Building Enclosure Consultant. Office- and field-based role supporting enclosure work across the Mid-Atlantic (MD/VA/DC), with a path to build independent consulting capability/project ownership.
Responsibilities- Support enclosure consulting on both new construction and existing buildings, contributing to investigations, design review, quality verification, and field testing.
- Help assess roofing, cladding, waterproofing, glazing, sealants, weather barriers, and related envelope assemblies.
- Assist with proposals, contracts, project planning, construction administration, and client meetings.
- Support multiple assignments with a focus on quality, responsiveness, budgets, schedules, and client satisfaction.
- Prepare technical reports, project records, status updates, and recommended next steps for clients and internal teams.
- Participate in site observations, envelope inspections, construction quality checks, and on-site performance assessments.
- Track project progress, reporting, budgets, invoicing, and change documentation.
- Build working relationships with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Mix of office + field work.
- Follow site safety rules, including required PPE.
- Build technical capability through hands-on training and mentoring in building science, industry standards, and enclosure best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, building science, or a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years in architecture, engineering, construction, building science, or a related industry.
- Prior exposure to construction, envelope systems, site inspections, construction administration, submittal review, or performance testing preferred.
- Working familiarity with roofing, waterproofing, exterior cladding, glazing, sealants, or weather-resistive barriers.
- Strong organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including technical writing.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt when project demands shift.
- High attention to detail and a consistent standard for quality work.
- Comfort working independently and in a team; intermediate Microsoft Office and Bluebeam skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally and work in office plus field settings, including heights, tight spaces, variable weather, and active construction sites.
