Role Description The DC Based Political News Correspondent is a full-time, on-site role located in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for covering national political news, including Congress, the White House, federal agencies, and major political events. Daily responsibilities include researching political developments, writing and delivering news stories and live on-air reports, conducting interviews with key stakeholders, and developing sources within the political landscape.

The role involves coordinating with producers, editors, and multimedia staff to prepare packages, segments, and live shots for broadcast and digital platforms. The Correspondent is expected to meet tight deadlines, adhere to editorial guidelines, and consistently produce clear, accurate, and engaging political news content.

Qualifications

• Strong News Writing and Writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, accurate, and compelling political news stories.
• Editorial judgment and experience, including fact-checking, story selection, and adherence to journalistic standards.
• Advanced Research abilities, including sourcing information from official documents, briefings, interviews, and data.
• Multimedia skills, such as on-camera reporting, working with video and audio, and producing content for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of U.S. politics, government institutions, and current affairs, with the ability to explain complex issues to a broad audience.
• Excellent verbal communication, interviewing, and presentation skills, including comfort with live reporting.
• Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC, with flexibility for extended hours, breaking news, and occasional travel.
• Experience in broadcast journalism or newsroom environments is strongly preferred.
