8020 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043 (Baltimore & Howard counties).
The Bilingual Interpreter will communicate with and assist Spanish‑speaking park visitors. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.
Duties (examples)- Develop and lead nature programs and hikes.
- Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
- Communicate with visitors while assisting with park operations (e.g., beach patrol, search and rescue, traffic control).
- Develop bilingual program advertisements and assist with public relations.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, able to speak, read, and write in both languages.
- Must indicate fluency on the application and demonstrate skills during an interview.
- Customer service experience.
- Park operations experience.
Employees may be required to operate a motor vehicle, UTV or golf cart and must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license with five points or fewer on the driving record. A provisional license is not acceptable.
Special RequirementsApplicants may undergo background investigations, including reference checks, education verification, driving record checks, and criminal history with fingerprinting. Employment is contingent on satisfactory results.
BenefitsContractual employees working 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits for themselves and dependents (state subsidizes 75%, employee pays 25% of premiums). Additional options include dental, accidental death, dismemberment, and life insurance at full employee cost.
Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
