Position: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team. The EFDA will assist the dentist, provide excellent patient care, and perform expanded dental functions as allowed by state regulations.

This is a new office with an opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the office expands.

Schedule
  • Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM-2:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM to start
  • As the office grows, this position is expected to transition to full-time hours in 2027
    .
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain instruments, equipment, and treatment areas.
  • Follow all infection control and safety procedures.
  • Perform expanded functions as permitted by state regulations.
  • Take dental X-rays and impressions.
  • Place and contour restorations and apply sealants, as permitted.
  • Perform coronal polishing
    .
  • Prepare and educate patients before and after treatment.
  • Provide basic oral hygiene instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
  • Help maintain dental supply inventory.
  • Support the overall efficiency and patient experience of the office.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EFDA/EDDA certification and dental X-ray certification required.
  • Nitrous oxide certification, as required by the state.
  • CPR certification.
  • Experience in a dental or medical setting preferred.
  • Must be able to perform coronal polishing.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable learning and using dental software and other office technology.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work well as part of a team.
