Position: Interior Planner (Johns Hopkins Facilities and Real Estate)
Johns Hopkins University is an elite research and teaching institution with ambitious academic and sustainability goals. Its campuses are exceptional, and they are embedded in mature, urban areas with limited areas for expansion. Space planning is essential to creatively meet the university's present and future needs in a compact footprint and to ensure effective stewardship of resources.

We are seeking an Interior Planner who will be a member of Johns Hopkins Facilities and Real Estate (JHFRE)'s Planning & Architecture (P&A) team. The P&A team supports long-range planning, capital strategy, new construction, renovation, and space utilization initiatives for all non-clinical space on the Homewood, East Baltimore, Peabody, and DC campuses as well as the university's leased properties. They ensure that university facilities support users' priority needs, confirm that proposed projects comply with requirements and guidelines, and advocate for long-term stewardship of the campus.

Data analysis is an increasingly central element of this work, and the Interior Planner will collaborate with the team of planners and architects.

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Planning & Architecture and the Senior Planner, the Interior Planner conducts space use analysis, programming, conceptual planning and other evaluations, and they provide guidance for interior design issues during the project discovery, planning, feasibility study, and early schematic design phases of major and minor capital projects.

The Interior Planner will develop and maintain a strong understanding of JHFRE practices for documenting space use and occupancy in university buildings and will collaborate with the Space Systems Administrator to update documentation as renovations are enacted.

The Interior Planner will initiate, facilitate, execute, and/or oversee programming and planning efforts in support of development and implementation of the university's capital plan, divisional strategic plans, strategic campus plans, and overall campus developments (i.e., maintenance investments, accessibility planning, space utilization, space standards, classroom design, etc.).

The Interior Planner provides oversight and guidance of campus space planning and design efforts, develops and maintains design guidelines and standards and reviews work by outside consultants to ensure conformance with guidelines, standards, and design intent.

The Interior Planner collaborates with other JHFRE staff to provide comprehensive oversight of planning, design, and construction projects.

* Work with University stakeholders, JHFRE staff, and external consultants or experts as required to develop and document design standards for renovation and new construction that support the university goals and objectives, are durable and financially appropriate, and reflect sound industry practice. Provide oversight and review of consultants' documents for concept and schematic design, detailing, conformance with JHU standards, and appropriateness of systems and product specifications.

* Interface with JHFRE/Plant Operations personnel in recommending the most appropriate design solutions, addressing durability, financial sustainability, and appropriateness.

* Work with senior leadership,…
