Monkey in the Metal is looking for a talented Drafter to join our innovative team and play a critical role in shaping spaces that are as beautiful as they are functional.
Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Monkey in the Metal has been a leader in solid wood and metal fabrication since 2012. We specialize in crafting unique pieces for multi-family residences, offices, retail spaces, universities, and restaurants. Our clients turn to us for everything custombecause we excel in building items that aren't available anywhere else. From intricate architectural treatments to custom furniture, our work is driven by passion, precision, and a commitment to quality.
As a Drafter at Monkey in the Metal, you'll be at the forefront of our project planning and design process. You'll work closely with architects, designers, and our skilled fabrication team to create detailed shop drawings that bring visions to life. This role combines technical skills with creative problem-solving, and each project offers an opportunity to build something truly unique.
Key Responsibilities- Develop meticulous shop drawings that reflect the spirit and intent of architectural designs.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and the fabrication team to ensure seamless design execution.
- Conduct site visits and interact with clients to gather insights for design requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with project and building regulations.
- Assist with materials ordering and create CNC production-ready drawings.
- Resolve assembly and production issues by translating designs into executable plans.
- Contribute to building long-term relationships with vendors and clients.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant drafting experience.
- Strong skills in design software (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino3D, etc.). Knowledge of Innergy ERP is a plus.
- Knowledge of routine fabrication, finishing tooling, and machinery.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated skill and passion through a portfolio of completed work.
- Full-Time position
- Competitive salary, starting at $75,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses.
