Position: Primary Care Clinic Physician (Student Health and Well-Being)

Overview

Our practice group is recruiting a Primary Care Clinic Physician (PCP) for a 28 hour/week position to provide in-person care at the Homewood and East Baltimore campus in addition to telehealth and as needed in-person care for the Washington, D.C. campus. The PCP will work collaboratively with other healthcare providers across the University on other campuses.

The PCP is responsible for providing excellent and effective patient care through the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illness and injury. The PCP provides direct clinical care with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventive measures and shares responsibility for clinic compliance with state, federal, and ambulatory accreditation requirements. The academic setting of the position also allows the physician the opportunity to work on population-specific issues and keep the clinic on the forefront of best practices in the university health field.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clinical care of patients at the SHWB primary care clinics. This includes, but is not limited to direct patient care, outreach / preventive health efforts, and follow-up of labs, radiological / other studies, and referrals.
  • Deliver culturally competent care, affirming a wide range of student/learner identities, and promoting the diversity, equity, and inclusion values of the Student Health and Well-Being practice.
  • Provide medical consultations as needed to SHWB Nurse Practitioners and Physicians as needed.
  • Assist in orienting and precepting residents or fellows who are rotating through SHWB.
  • Perform regular peer chart reviews and pass periodic laboratory proficiency testing and quality control reviews.
  • Act as proxy for other SHWB-PC clinician as assigned.
  • Provide back-up on-call phone services to SHWB patients in rotation with other SHWB physicians.
  • Participate in outreach activities with campus partners.
  • Attend SHWB educational and accreditation programs and show evidence of continued self-development and professional involvement by participating in continuing medical educational programs.
  • Assist in accreditation-related projects, including but not limited to policies, meetings, and studies.
  • Serve as an active member on one of the internal SHWB-PC committees. May serve as a representative on University-wide committees as designated by the Director of Primary Care Services and/or Chief Medical Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Primary Care Services, Chief Medical Director, Associate Directors, or Senior Administrative Manager.
  • Directly reports to the Director of Primary Care Services.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • The successful candidate should have experience working with diverse patient populations and appreciate and relate effectively to individuals who hold multiple, intersecting identities including but not limited to, historically marginalized and underrepresented populations, various ages and developmental status, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, international status, disability, gender and sexual identities, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and facility in emails is required.
  • Knowledge of Excel is helpful.
  • Must successfully complete all required and on-going electronic medical records and scheduling system trainings as directed.
  • Must complete all required HIPAA and any other specified online training courses deemed necessary.
  • Philosophical commitment to the care, development, and education of students and learners in academic environments.
  • Interest and understanding of quality improvement and/or professional development requirements is helpful.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in adolescent/young adult health, public health, or college health.
  • Proven ability to relate effectively to people of various ages and backgrounds including gender and sexual orientation as well as cultural, ethnic, and international differences.
