Job Description
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a board eligible or board-certified Laborist for a full-time faculty position. The successful candidate will join a robust and growing department that includes a multidisciplinary team of labor and delivery physicians (Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Academic Specialists/Generalists, and Midwifery faculty). Candidates should be committed to a team-based perinatal care model that prioritizes patient safety, high-quality outcomes, and effective communication.

Position Title: OBGYN Laborist
Department/Division/School: Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences/University of Maryland School of Medicine
Salary Range: $238,000-$350,000
Background ChecksEmployment at UMB is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. A background check does not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment. However, the university reserves the right to rescind an offer or terminate employment if the findings are deemed incompatible with the position. Employment eligibility must be verified within three days of the start date. Failure to provide appropriate documentation may result in offer rescission or employment termination.
Successful candidate should be able to:
- Provide meaningful exposure to a wide variety of obstetric cases, with opportunities for continued learning and professional growth
- Actively engage involvement in teaching residents, interns, and medical students
- Opportunity to care for an underserved patient population in a collaborative, patient-centered, mission-driven environment
- Join a large, collegial group of labor and delivery physicians, MFMs, Academic Specialists (Generalists), and Midwives
- Engage in departmental, hospital, and university committee work and contribute to ongoing research and quality/safety initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Board-eligible/board-certified OBGYN with the ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the state of Maryland
- Two years of relevant experience preferred
