Bryn Mawr seeks a Summer Introduction to Computer Science (ICS) teacher to teach one section of ICS during the summer session for 2026. The course will be fully virtual, and is equivalent to our school-year semester-long ICS class. We seek a teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching, who can effectively engage students in an online environment, and who can creatively use synchronous and asynchronous teaching techniques to provide a meaningful learning experience.
Key Responsibilities- Teach one section of Summer ICS from 8:00-12:00 daily during the 2026 summer session (Weekdays from June 16 - July 2, with a holiday on June 19)
- Provide support and guidance to individual students to manage the learning process
- Foster an equitable, inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment
- Implement methods and practices that engage and challenge students, allowing them to build critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Provide assessments and feedback that help students build appropriate skills and content mastery in alignment with the upper school curriculum
- Communicate as needed with students, families, and the school
- Maintain an updated class website with course materials, policies, and schedules
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Education, or related field
- 3-5 years teaching experience preferred
- Experience teaching in a virtual environment preferred
- Experience in developing lesson plans for high school students
- Comfort using a variety of pedagogical strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrable use of technology necessary to be successful in an online learning environment
