Job Description:
Full-Time Spanish teacher
Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for a full-time Upper School Spanish Teacher to begin in August 2026. The position would be to teach 4 Upper School Spanish courses. Additionally, candidates who have experience collaborating with colleagues, and experience with a variety of techniques to increase and assess students Spanish proficiency are especially suited for this role. All Upper School teachers participate in the full program of an independent school in addition to their classroom responsibilities.
Responsibilities- To teach Spanish in a way that honors the Quaker values and the Teaching and Learning Paradigm of Friends School.
- To advise a small group of students throughout their years in the Upper School.
- To participate in the co-curricular or extra-curricular life of the school according to the teacher s skills and interests and the school s need. Opportunities may include leading clubs, coaching, and organizing special events, field trips, seminars, etc.
- To participate in the planning and leading of the Spanish immersion program abroad.
- To attend All-School Professional Days, Department meetings, and Upper School faculty meetings.
- To help move the initiatives of the School forward by serving on committees and lending their expertise and voice.
- To collaborate with teachers in the Language Department, in the Upper School, and cross-divisionally.
- To complete timely, detailed, and prescriptive progress reports, grades, and comments at regular intervals during the year for each student they teach.
- A Bachelor s degree is required; a Master s degree and experience is preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate principles of Quakerism and Quaker education into their work.
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate an advanced high proficiency (according to the ACTFL proficiency guidelines) or higher in Spanish.
