Position Overview

Little Friends child care program, located on the campus of Friends School of Baltimore, has an opening for a full-time teacher. If you are a professional, enthusiastic, passionate, nurturing, caring, and kind individual, this is the place for you. We are looking for individuals who can provide quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 2 years of age, all while making education fun and creative.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Assist Co‑Teacher with all aspects of daily classroom activities, including age‑appropriate curriculum planning, health and safety, actively supervise children at all times, and open communication with a team of teachers and with families.
  • Encourage children's emotional, social, and physical development and positive self‑concept. Create a nurturing, enriching, age‑appropriate learning environment for the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team, administrators, and specialists.
  • Assist with observing and documenting the children's progress and development.
  • Learn, understand, and embrace the Quaker aspect of the school and use it daily through Morning Meetings, curriculum, classroom management, and all parent/child/employee interactions.
  • Greet the parents and build rapport; communicate with them about their child's day daily.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development days, and teacher training.
  • Cleans and sanitizes toys, furniture, and play equipment.
  • Adhere to all school rules and policies.
  • Maintain a neat and professional image at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and other childcare workers.
  • Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.
  • Knowledge of childcare principles and procedures.
  • Ability to relate to children and make the childcare facility an enjoyable atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of early childhood teaching strategies.
  • Comfortable using workplace technology, including computers, tablets, communication apps, and classroom devices.
Required Licensing / Certifications
  • CPR Certification; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.
  • 90 Hour Preschool Certificate.
  • 45‑hour infant/toddler certificate or equivalent (preferred).
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (have or complete within the first 30 days).
  • Basic Health and Safety (have or complete within the first 30 days).
Required

Education and Experience
  • Must be 19 years of age.
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers or a degree in Early Childhood Education or a relevant field.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Walking long distances on both elevated and flat surfaces.
