The Educational Associate (Virtual Secondary Mathematics Teacher) plans and implements an instructional
program in middle school mathematics in a virtual setting and provides related educational services for
students in honors courses across Baltimore City Schools. Functions as an educational professional with a
focus on ensuring the appropriate conduct, implementation, and delivery of academic programs or student
services at the school or specific program level. This position is funded through Title IV for SY 25/26 and
SY 26/27.
Essential Functions
* Serves as teacher of record for the virtual classes.
* Assesses students' abilities in relation to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
* Plans and implements appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including the
determination of the appropriate kind and level of materials.
* Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to
enhance learning.
* Manages learner behavior in instructional settings to ensure a conducive learning environment and
assists in and participates in the management of student behavior across the school, center, school
grounds, or work site.
* Works in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity, or at a field work site as
assigned.
* Ensures ongoing communication with parents, both written and verbal, to keep them informed of
student progress.
* Continually communicates with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of
their progress in meeting those expectations.
* Makes school site visits to monitor student learning progress.
* Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination
policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, and professional standards.
Maximum Salary 146737.00
Minimum Salary 75173.00
Desired Qualifications
* Master's degree in education or related field, or Model Teacher pathway.
* Three years of teaching experience in literacy; urban school experience preferred.
* Knowledge and experience with virtual learning preferred.
* Knowledge of effective student, school, and district assessment tools.
* Strong organization and strategic planning skills; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fastpaced work environment.
* Experience managing large-scale projects.
* Knowledge of current research in literacy best practices.
* Knowledge of the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards for Literacy.
* A commitment to educational equity.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft
Office and online learning management systems.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
* Ability to facilitate positive communication and coordination of program activities with teachers,
administrators, and staff.
* Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare reports.
* Knowledge of laws, regulations, rules, and policies affecting City Schools' educators.
