Position OverviewFriends School of Baltimore seeks a Full‑Time Lower School Science Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. This position includes teaching science to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 using the Amplify Science curriculum. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science through hands‑on, inquiry‑based learning.

- Teach hands‑on elementary science to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 using the Amplify Science curriculum
- Design and facilitate engineering design projects for Grades 3–5

- Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School and across divisions
- Grade student work and provide timely, meaningful feedback
- Communicate student progress through written and oral reports to families and administrators
- Provide lesson plans to administration when requested or when absent
- Attend required field experiences, including:
- Two day‑long field trips with Grade 4
- One overnight field trip (three days/two nights) with Grade 5
- Serve as a resource teacher for homeroom and special‑area teachers, including planning and co‑teaching special topics
- Assist with planning and facilitating activities for special Lower School days
- Attend all required meetings, including:
- All‑School Professional Days
- Science Department meetings
- Lower School Faculty meetings
- Special‑area teachers meetings
- Participate in arrival and dismissal duties
- Commit to ongoing professional development
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in science or a related field preferred
- Experience teaching hands‑on science to elementary students (ages 8–11) preferred
- Willingness to understand and integrate Quaker principles and Quaker education into professional practice
