Overview
The City Temple of Baltimore (Baptist) is located in Baltimore, MD. We currently hold one Sunday worship service, and our congregation consists of approximately 155 active members. As a longstanding pillar in the Baltimore community, City Temple has a rich history of serving those in need—providing meals, clothing, and shelter assistance. We are entering an exciting new chapter and seek a leader to guide us forward.
Position OverviewThe City Temple of Baltimore (Baptist) is seeking a bi-vocational Pastor to serve as the spiritual leader of our congregation. This position is designed for a candidate who will balance pastoral responsibilities with another professional or vocational commitment outside the church. The Pastor will cultivate our worship service, foster spiritual growth, revitalize our community outreach, and help create an environment where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can deepen their faith, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to the broader community.
Key Responsibilities- Preaching & Teaching:
Deliver dynamic, engaging sermons each Sunday; lead Bible Study and Adult Sunday School Classes. - Worship Leadership:
Plan, organize, and facilitate meaningful worship experiences. - Pastoral Care:
Provide support and guidance to members through visitation, counseling, and prayer during times of joy, sorrow, and spiritual growth. - Ministry Development:
Collaborate with church leaders to develop and implement strategies for spiritual growth, discipleship, and outreach. - Leadership:
Model Christ-like character, integrity, humility, and servant leadership; recommend church officers for election by the congregation. - Community Engagement:
Serve as a visible and active presence in the community, building relationships and participating in local events and initiatives.
- Licensed and ordained Baptist minister, with a demonstrated commitment to the call.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a pastor preferred (experience as an assistant or an associate pastor acceptable) with demonstrated readiness through leadership including preaching, pastoral care, ministry leadership, and administrative abilities.
- Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary, college, or university.
- Strong preaching and teaching skills; ability to communicate biblical truths in a relevant and engaging manner.
- Excellent interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills; ability to connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
- Collaborative spirit; ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and church leaders.
- Proficient computer/technology skills.
