Early Learning Special Education Teacher

Baltimore City Public Schools' Early Learning Programs focus on supporting children from birth to age five to foster a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Through school-based early learning programs, children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships within inclusive and nurturing environments. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for an Early Learning Special Education Teacher, based in Baltimore, MD. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering developmentally appropriate instruction to young children in early learning environments designed to meet the needs of our students. Regular responsibilities include adapting lesson plans to accommodate individual needs, fostering social-emotional and academic growth, and collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires ongoing observation, assessment, and progress monitoring of students, as well as communicating effectively with families, para educators, and other professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge in teaching, with a focus on early learning and supporting students with disabilities, including those in special education settings.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Understanding of inclusive education practices and strategies for working with young children of varying abilities.
• Commitment to fostering an engaging and nurturing learning environment that supports diverse learners.
• Experience with developmentally appropriate curricula for early learners is beneficial.
• Certification in Special Education or an equivalent qualification is required.
