Job OverviewThe Training Coordinator is a part of the team that is responsible for enhancing the outcomes of persons supported by the agency through the development and implementation of staff training programs which promote the agency’s mission. The Training Coordinator assists with the preparation and delivery of training to staff, so that they are prepared to successfully meet the needs of the people they support.
One of the primary functions of the Training Coordinator is to conduct the training courses and ensure that all records of training are maintained accordingly.
- Assist in the design, delivery, and quality assurance monitoring of training for staff that prepare them to successfully support the efforts of people served by the agency in their attempts to achieve their life goals. These trainings include long‑running curriculum‑based “standards” that are offered regularly, “as needed” trainings that may be requested on short notice per provisional conditions, or specific professional‑development topics delivered on an occasional basis to small groups.
- Obtain and maintain all certifications to teach training required for staff by Maryland DDA and/or the agency, including but not limited to CPR, First Aid, Choking & Dysphagia, Mandt & Trauma‑Informed Support.
- Assist in the facilitation of staff obtaining initial and renewal CMT certifications, inclusive of keeping ongoing documentation, running reports, and acting as a liaison with the Maryland Board of Nursing and Dimensional Health Care Associates.
- Prepare materials, coordinate, and monitor all training activities associated with trainers outside of the department.
- Serve as a resource to all staff for professional skill/knowledge development with a focus on learning and implementing best practices for providing life‑enhancing support services, relevant to their job duties.
- Work cooperatively with personnel from other agency departments to resolve training‑related issues.
- Serve as a representative and active participant in various meetings and/or committees, both inside and outside of the organization.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks to accomplish intended outcomes by the given due date.
- Accurately and efficiently execute clerical duties for the Training Department (ex. record keeping, generation of reports, customer service, etc.).
- Generate, market, and deliver training to employees of other agencies, businesses and schools.
- Attend trainings, seminars, and conferences to remain current with new knowledge, skills, best practices and emerging trends in the field.
- Communicate and model the agency’s mission statement, core values, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity of all trainees.
- Complete all agency required trainings for the position.
- A.A. Degree and 5 + years of professional experience and or a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Business Administration, and or Healthcare.
- In lieu of education 7+ years of related DD or training experience may be substituted.
