State Development Swimming Coach
About the PositionDeliver a structured, high‑quality swimming program supporting athletes from post‑learn to swim through to Australian Age and Open competition levels. Work closely with the Head Coach, focus on athlete development, squad progression, pathway planning, and build strong relationships with students, families, and the broader community.
Responsibilities- Coaching across multiple squads.
- Supporting training design and delivery.
- Contributing to competitions and events.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, wellbeing, and program administration.
- Working flexible hours – early mornings, evenings, weekends, and school vacations.
- ASCTA Development Coach Accreditation and Lifeguard Qualification, plus First Aid, CPR and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to plan and deliver structured age‑appropriate training programmes.
- Experience assessing swimmer ability and supporting progression.
- Understanding of athlete development, safety, and wellbeing in a youth or school environment.
- Strong administrative capability: maintaining records, reports, and program data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage students, families, coaches, and staff.
- Proven ability to build relationships and contribute positively within a team environment.
- Proactive, energetic approach with genuine passion for coaching and athlete development.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, independence, and collaboration.
- Legal right to live and work in Australia.
- Understand and adhere to all obligations relating to the protection of children and young people as outlined in policies and procedures.
- Attend or complete all student protection mandatory training annually and any other professional learning events required by the School.
- Support and engage with all student protection initiatives and programmes across the School.
- Obtain a current Positive Notice or “Blue Card” issued under the Working with Children Act 2000 before commencing employment.
