Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for two Postdoctoral Fellowships in Applied Mathematics, beginning Fall 2026. Both positions are for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, engineering, computer science or a related field by the start date.

Research interests:
Quantum Computing, Optimization, Operations Research, and Numerical Linear Algebra. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas: quantum computing and information, optimization, numerical linear algebra, and operations research.

Numerical methods for the optimal control of partial differential equations. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas: numerical analysis of partial differential equations, optimization, numerical linear algebra, and continuum mechanics.
