About CTY
Founded in 1979, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is a center for innovation dedicated to advancing the field of gifted education through research on testing, programs, and other supports for advanced learners. On the premise that advanced learners come from every community and every demographic, we aim to understand and inform how these students need to be nurtured to achieve their full potential as learners and global citizens.
CTY also runs in-person and online academic programs for bright learners to cultivate a community of advanced learners and connect students in and outside the classroom.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Enrollment Services, we are seeking an Admissions & Registration Specialist – Enrollment Services (ARS) who will play a vital role as families and students navigate through the eligibility, admission and registration segments of the enrollment. As a gateway to CTY programs and offerings the ARS is responsible for executing procedures and policies related to determining applicant eligibility for CTY programs and services.
The role also executes registration activities, maintains student records, reports, and provides excellent customer service. This position develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external customers, prioritizes effectively, proactively solves problems, and manages multiple projects simultaneously with high accuracy.
- Reviews student prerequisite information and test scores and enters approved scores into the student information system.
- Proactively resolves customer issues including access to the CTY family portal and registering for courses.
- Communicates with families to determine eligibility for CTY programs and manages requests for exceptions.
- Coordinates admission functions for new and returning students including eligibility for course registration.
- Maintains student records in the student information system.
- Updates student and family records including merging duplicates, grade corrections and demographic information.
- Prepares requests for student academic records, including Talent Search certificates, program completion certificates, student course evaluations, and official academic records.
- Coordinates all registration functions such as new and returning student registration, transfers, drops, enrollment certifications, cancellations for non-payment, reinstatements, and third‑party group registrations.
- Data‑entry of CTY course offerings, site information, tuition and fees.
- Works with enrollment management, HR and academic teams to add course sections, increase class quotas or cancel courses.
- Resolves all incidents and requests within defined SLA.
- Provides substantive reports, quality control and data analysis.
- Serves as a primary tester of SIS enhancements.
- Assists with the training of new employees as needed.
- Keeps abreast of and follows all applicable state, federal and international guidelines applicable to the privacy and data security of student academic records.

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Four years of administrative/academic related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Bi‑lingual skills.
- Experience with SIS.
- Experience in registration, financial aid or student records.
- Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
- Proficient with SharePoint and effective use of advanced software applications.
- Outstanding customer service skills including effective listening.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, parents and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to student privacy.
- Knowledge of standardized tests for grades K-12.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize workload.
- Adaptable to changes in technology.
- Familiarity with Camp Docs and Freshdesk.
- Ability to analyze and collaborate on innovative solutions and the implementation of solutions.
- The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via email, Teams, Zoom, telephone and face‑to‑face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings.
