Coordinator Of The Office Of Student Engagement

Location:

NDMU Main Campus

Compensation: $17 per hour

Hours:

20 hours per week to include some evenings and weekends

Reports to:

Dr. Jeannine Heynes, Associate Dean for Student Engagement

Terms:

While any employment is "at will", hiring will normally take place on an annual basis, and compensation will be reviewed at least annually. These guidelines are non-binding and do not create a contract or obligation. Application may be varied at the university's sole discretion.

Job Summary:

The Coordinator of the Office of Student Engagement plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant, connected campus community through strategic communication, program coordination, and support for student organizations.

Essential Functions:
  • Create a weekly newsletter of upcoming events for students to be distributed university-wide
  • Create content for social media outreach and engagement
  • Review and update the website content relevant to the office of Student Engagement
  • Maintain updates and implementation of the Student Organization Handbook
  • Oversee Student Engagement Spaces upkeep (Gator Alley, Commuter Lounge, Student Engagement Lounge, and Supply Closet)
  • Coordinate materials, marketing, event planning, and training for over 30 Student Organizations
  • Assist the office with all large-scale event-planning for the campus community (Registration Days, Orientation Weekend, Welcome Week, Gator Fest, Christmas Dinner, Senior Class Events, etc)
  • Provide guidance to the Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board with their campus-wide events and spring semester elections
  • Gather data on outreach, retention, growth, and assessment content related to Student Engagement and student involvement
  • Assist on any projects, programs, and campus partner collaborations as needed
Qualifications:

Knowledge: Bachelor's degree required. An understanding of student development theory and how to translate theory to effective practice is essential. Candidates should also understand best practices in communications and student programming and exercise and promote a vibrant, inclusive campus environment in their daily actions

Experience: One to two years of student programming experience at the undergraduate level. Preferred experience working with Constant Contact, Canva, Microsoft Forms, and Social Media Platforms.

Skills/Aptitude:
This position requires administrative skills, supervisory skills, the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, independent working, and the ability to work effectively with students, families, staff and faculty. Excellent customer service, with the ability to build strong connections with students and campus partners.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment, 20 hours/week. Some evening and weekend hours.
