Job Summary

The Early College Admissions Program (ECAP) is a Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) magnet program that partners with the Community College of Baltimore County to provide a college‑preparatory program that combines high school and college coursework. Students earn a high‑school diploma and an Associate of Arts in General Studies degree—or up to 60 credits toward a bachelor’s degree—with tuition‑free college credits earned at either campus.

The program is designed for a diverse student population and emphasizes rigorous academic standards.

Required Scheduling

Adjunct faculty working in ECAP must follow a high‑school schedule and manage classes during specified weekdays. Classes may rotate week to week and several may be scheduled within a single week. A brief orientation may be required before classes begin. Faculty may be expected on Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, with limited availability outside these hours.

Responsibilities
  • Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator.
  • Abides by college‑wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct.
  • Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population.
  • Adheres to the scheduled time of class/lab.
  • Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and college policies.
  • Ensures that program‑specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner.
  • Assures that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assess the established course objectives.
  • Monitors student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students.
  • Minimum Requirements
    • Master’s degree or higher in Human Communication, Communication Studies or a related field.
    • Higher Education and/or pre‑K–12 teaching experience.
    • Competence and experience in the relevant academic field.
    • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Prior experience using a Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Prior college teaching experience preferred.
    Pay

    $1085 per credit hour

    • Sick and Safe Leave – Paid sick and safe leave for part‑time employees, including credit and non‑credit adjunct faculty and associates.
