Associate Dean
Founded in 1947, Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is a comprehensive, urban institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College's campus is located in West Baltimore and courses are offered throughout the City. With its broad range of degree, certificate, and continuing education programs, affordable tuition, and extensive outreach, BCCC offers educational opportunities to the citizens of Baltimore City and throughout the state of Maryland.
BCCC serves over 7,500
* students annually, providing credits that transfer to four‑year colleges and universities as well as workforce training leading directly to job placement. The College is proud of the fact that over 50 nations are represented within the student body.

Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS), the Associate Dean will support curriculum development, course and program assessment, faculty recruitment, professional development, and student‑centered scheduling. The Associate Dean will assist in the development of budgets for the academic areas within the academic division. The Associate Dean works with the Dean, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, other administrators, faculty, and staff to deliver integrated instructional programs that promote student success in accordance with the mission, vision, and goals of Baltimore City Community College.
The Associate Dean will assist the Dean in promoting shared governance and collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs as it relates to advising, student orientation courses, and student enrollment functions. The Associate Dean helps to foster, develop, and maintain strong relationships with local high schools, four‑year institutions and public and community agencies.
- Assist with the management of personnel, schedules, resources, and data to meet the needs of the division and enhance the educational effectiveness of programs and services.
- Recommend instructional and general policies, conduct meetings to facilitate planning, data analysis and collegial decision‑making.
- Maintain current knowledge of new trends and innovations in community colleges and higher education.
- Assist the Dean in providing leadership for accreditation and program review, including the assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Promote excellence in teaching and innovation in curriculum development.
- Facilitate partnerships with high schools to expand the dual enrollment program.
- Assist the Dean in developing guided pathways between Workforce Development and The Academy.
- Work with faculty to plan for curriculum expansions, modification, and deletions; and set priorities for resource needs.
- Facilitate academic partnerships among program faculty and four‑year transfer institutions.
- Work with faculty to identify extramural funding to support program development and special projects.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and professional development of adjunct faculty.
- Work collaboratively with the program coordinators to manage book adoptions for the division.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of faculty, professional, and support staff.
- Work with the Dean to provide supervision for the course schedule and the assignment of faculty to courses; and monitor workloads.
- Work with the Dean and the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs to manage content for the college catalog.
- Teach two classes per academic term (Fall/Spring).
Education:
- Earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university in Education, History, Sociology, Psychology, the Arts, or a related discipline taught in the School of Arts and Social Sciences.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of progressive leadership experience at the Associate Dean, Department Chair, Division Head, Center Director level or above with a proven record of full‑time faculty supervision, which must include the following:
- Course and program development and review.
