We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our Maryland-approved nonpublic school serving students with diverse and intensive learning needs. Position SummaryThe Special Education Teacher provides high-quality, individualized instruction to students with disabilities in a structured, supportive nonpublic school environment. This role ensures instruction aligns with IEP goals, Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, COMAR regulations, and MSDE nonpublic school requirements. Teachers collaborate closely with clinical, behavioral, and academic teams to create safe, engaging classrooms where students can thrive academically, socially, and behaviorally.
WhatYou'll Do
- Deliver differentiated instruction aligned to IEP goals and state standards
- Design engaging lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to diverse learners
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies
- Apply and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and school wide behavior systems
- Maintain accurate academic, behavioral, and compliance documentation (MSDE/COMAR)
- Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to guide instruction
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborate closely with clinical, behavioral, and educational staff
- Communicate effectively with families, LEAs, and internal teams
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Engage in professional development and apply evidence-based best practices
- A student-centered educator who believes all students are capable of growth
- Skilled at adapting instruction and managing complex classroom needs
- Collaborative, reflective, and solution-focused
- Organized, detail-oriented, and confident with documentation and compliance
- Calm, consistent, and relationship-driven—especially in challenging moments
- Bachelor's degree in Education required;
Master's degree preferred - Valid Maryland Educator License in Special Education
- Knowledge of IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE nonpublic school expectations
- Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, autism, or intensive needs preferred

Salary range of 60-70 K commensurate with experience and active MSDE license.
