Middle School Music Teacher (Grades 6-8)
Full‑time position serving students in grades 6‑8. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess music instruction while fostering a culture of excellence and high expectations for all students.
Start date:
Summer 2025 (Next year opening).
- Design and implement curriculum aligned to state standards, using backward design and data‑driven instruction.
- Set class and individual goals, using ongoing assessments to track progress and adjust instruction.
- Develop lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and differentiation to meet diverse student needs.
- Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility, self‑efficacy, and independence.
- Collaborate with grade‑level teams, interventionists, and the principal to foster a culture of excellence.
- Build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues; communicate proactively through various channels.
- Engage in continuous professional development, model professionalism, and contribute to school‑wide initiatives and committees.
- Maryland State Teacher Certification or eligibility to obtain certification (Required)
- Eligible for hire by Baltimore City Public Schools (Required)
- Two years of teaching experience in a public school (Strongly Preferred)
- Passion for working with students from historically resilient communities (Required)
- Experience teaching in a predominantly African American environment (Preferred)
- Deep mastery of music content and ability to make it engaging for students.
- Data‑driven instruction that continually adjusts to meet student progress.
- Creates an inclusive classroom where every student feels seen, heard, and respected.
- Lifelong learner who reflects on practice, seeks feedback, and addresses biases.
- Prepared, intentional, and adaptable teacher who anticipates challenges and supports all students.
