BCCC invites qualified candidates to apply for one or more of our adjunct faculty positions to teach an Arts course in Ceramics, Film, Painting, or Sculpture.

For Ceramics, the course will cover basic materials, techniques, and vocabulary associated with clay work. The emphasis is placed on hand-building with an introduction to the pottery wheel. Instruction should include lecture, studio work, and demonstrations. The instructor should have experience/training in Throwing, trimming, Slip Carving, or Sgraffito, Bisque Firing, Glazing, Slip Trailing, Smoking or Pit Firing, and/or maybe Salt Firing.

For Film, the courses will cover basicmaterials, techniques, and vocabulary associated with film. The emphasis is placed on history of cinema from silent films to the present. Instruction should include lectures, film discussion, viewing and written activity. The class focuses on movies--a combination of big business, cultural myth, and technical artistry—which provide cogent insight into modern culture and its beliefs, values, and morals.

These insights are explored through the course. Important films are viewed and then followed by oral or written activity.

For Painting, the courses cover basicmaterials, techniques, and vocabulary associated with painting. The emphasis is placed on drawing from both the naturalistic and creative approaches. Instruction should include lectures, studio work, and demonstrations. The instructor should have experience/training in line, form, proportion, composition, color, texture and perspective which are applied in several media to varied subject matter, including still life, interior, landscape, and the figure.

For Sculpture, the course follows-up three-dimensional experiences in both traditional and contemporary approaches. Instruction should include lectures, studio work, and demonstrations. The instructor should have experience/training using ordinary materials such as clay, plaster, wood, paper, fiber, and found objects.
