Opening Statement

We are seeking a full‑time eurythmy teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year and beyond. The role will guide a rich, age‑appropriate eurythmy program for children from early childhood through eighth grade. The full‑time teaching assignment is 24 periods per week, which includes time for planning and mentoring with an experienced teacher.

Founded in 1971, the Waldorf School of Baltimore, located on a wooded hillside adjacent to Cylburn Arboretum, offers a Waldorf education to a diverse community. The campus features a custom‑designed eurythmy room with a sprung wooden floor.

Job Duties

Authority: The Eurythmy Teacher informs the Academic Director of issues that may interfere with fulfilling the responsibilities.

  • Guide, engage, and bring a rich, age‑appropriate program to children from early childhood to eighth grade.
  • Plan all eurythmy lessons and coordinate with class and lead teachers.
  • Prepare and maintain the eurythmy classroom, materials, and records.
  • Manage the cost‑center budget and ensure equipment is replenished.
  • Engage families and maintain communication with parents through the LMS.
  • Plan and conduct conferences, assemble reports, and attend school/community events.
Program Details

Eurythmy Teacher Classes Will Include:

  • Children’s Garden (early childhood): three or four 20‑minute lessons per week on a rotating basis.
  • Lower School: Grades 1‑3 – one 40‑minute lesson each per week;
    Grades 4‑5 – three 40‑minute lessons each per week (two eurythmy and one eurythmy form drawing).
  • Middle School: Grades 6‑8 – two 40‑minute lessons each per week.
Full‑time Teacher Requirements
  • Scheduled to cover 24 periods per week.
  • Three or four periods allocated for activities such as recess duty, story/rest reading (Grades 1‑3), and festivals committee as assigned.
  • New teachers do not serve on committees during the first year; can become full members in the second year.
  • Help support curricular programs through activities such as class plays, festivals, and adult eurythmy.
Instructional Environment
  • Planning all eurythmy lessons.
  • Coordinating with class and lead teachers as needed.
  • Maintaining classroom, materials, records, and clean, orderly space.
  • Managing the cost‑center budget and replenishment.
Home / School
  • Engage families professionally.
  • Maintain communication with parents via LMS regarding eurythmy assemblies or other events.
  • Plan and conduct conferences; complete accurate quarterly and interim reports for parents.
  • Attend school/community events as required.
Curriculum
  • Develop full curriculum and materials with a mentor (one period per week).
  • Follow the eurythmy curriculum.
  • Plan lessons with an accompanist (one period per week).
  • Plan and execute eurythmy assemblies.
  • Participate in festivals with the Festivals Committee.
  • Attend and engage in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Engage in artistic work (one period per week).
Teachers / Staff / Administration
  • Attend scheduled faculty and departmental meetings and community events.
  • Maintain communication with the office regarding schedule changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of money spent on classroom materials.
  • Serve as a member of Collegium when eligible.
  • Represent on school committees and professional groups on an agreed schedule.
  • Deepen understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and anthroposophy.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree and eurythmy diploma.
  • Ability to work from an understanding of anthroposophy.
  • Knowledge of Waldorf education and willingness to participate in faculty studies.
  • Commitment to equitable practices in educational and community settings.
  • Willingness and ability to develop a range of artistic skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional collegial relationships with faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with parents, students, and visitors.
  • Engagement in ongoing training and professional development.
Employment Details

The eurythmy teacher position is a full‑time role with benefits. Salary range: $42,000 – $62,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
