Salary Range: $150/week for 4 weeks)
Employee Group: Full-Time
Work Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week during program time (Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:00 pm). Includes a half hour lunch break. Hours can be flexible depending on availability.
Position Summary:
The BSO Orch Kids program is seeking interns for its 2026 Summer Session. Interns and volunteers will work with Orch Kids staff to provide support in the operations of a large music education non-profit. In addition to assisting with supporting teaching responsibilities, administrative duties, and/or special program projects, interns will have the opportunity to gain leadership experience, develop professional goals, and learn from experienced Orch Kids teaching artists and staff in musical and creative activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day program operations:
- Support with managing instrument and supply inventory
- Assist with music sheets preparation (copying/printing) and distribution
- Help with student transitions and dismissal
- Assist with classroom setup and teardown
- Assist program staff with child management support
- Concert logistics and event management
- Videography, photography, and graphic design
- Joining for general support and logistics on Friday Field trips (July 10 and 17)
- Teaching Support:
- Instrumental Music:
- Assist lead instructors in group classes and ensemble rehearsals
- Engage in one-on-one pull-outs with students
- Enrichment Classes:
Assist with enrichment classes and assignments which include arts and crafts, group drumming, and music theory classes and assignments
- Instrumental Music:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for and belief in Orch Kids’ mission (visit our website to learn more: orchkids.org)
- Desire to be a motivational mentor and role model for Orch Kids students and community
- Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively and in a responsive manner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Background in music, education, and/or youth development is a plus
- Personal transportation to and from the summer camp location
- For paid interns:
- Comfortability with and access to a computer or device that can access Google Drive files and email regularly
