Position Overview:

The Athletic Academic Advisor provides service to the Academic Center for Student-Athletes through academic counseling for assigned teams, as well as assisting in the coordination of the tutorial program. The Athletic Academic Advisor monitors the academic progress of assigned teams, including weekly meetings with student-athletes and coaching staff, creating weekly academic reports, and communicating with faculty, in addition to monitoring continuing eligibility to ensure students are meeting NCAA academic requirements.

The Athletic Academic Advisor provides
support in coordinating the tutorial program by assisting in supervising and training peer tutors.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the academic progress of assigned teams.
  • Assist in coordinating the tutorial program.
  • Assist in monitoring continuing eligibility.
  • Instruct a freshmen introduction to the university course (fall only).
  • Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new student-athletes.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in counseling, education, special education, curriculum and instruction, sports administration, or sport related field.
  • One year of professional experience working with student-athletes in academic advising, teaching, and counseling.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and written skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in counseling, education, or sport administration.
  • Three years of professional experience working with student-athletes in academic advising, teaching or counseling, preferably at a Division I level.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Salary:

Salary: $54,000 - $61,000depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
