Position Summary

The Full-Time Faculty, Clinical Psychology is a 10-month full-time faculty appointment in the Psy.

D. Program in Clinical Psychology. As a core faculty member of the Psy.

D. program, the primary responsibilities include teaching, dissertation supervision and committee work, student advising and mentoring, service to the department and university, and continued scholarship in the field as defined in the Stevenson University policies and the Psy.

D. in Clinical Psychology Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Teaching responsibilities include 24 contact hours per academic year. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts (which may include occasional off-campus, evening, or weekend duties/activities), and participating in the life of the university. Rank and title will be determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with education and experience.

Doctoral degree from an APA
-accredited program in a health service psychology area (i.e., clinical, counseling, or school) required with graduate teaching experience in psychology and experience in clinical practice preferred. Teaching, clinical, and research specialty areas are open; clinical and teaching competencies in the areas of psychological assessment, research methods, statistics, ethics, human development, and/or working with children and adolescents are preferred. Must hold an active psychology license in Maryland or a neighboring jurisdiction or be license-eligible at time of hire.

• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the teaching of psychology at the graduate level.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice.
• Commitment to advising, mentoring and guiding students and supervising student scholarly activity, including doctoral dissertation research.
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and practice inclusive pedagogy.
• Demonstrated student-centered approach to teaching, and a commitment to student achievement.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in curriculum development, planning, implementation, and assessment.
• Ability to assess student performance and learning.
• Knowledge of state and national training and licensure requirements and APA / APPIC standards in teaching and supervising doctoral students preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues in the department and the University.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, peers, and professional contacts.

• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time and the ability to speak clearly and effectively for an extended period of time.
