Arts for Learning Maryland (formerly Young Audiences of Maryland) is devoted to enriching the lives and education of Maryland’s youth through educational and culturally diverse arts programs. Through Arts for Learning, professional teaching artists from all disciplines partner with educators, schools, and school districts to provide, on average, over 560,000 hours of learning in, through, and about the arts to more than 155,000 Maryland students annually.

The Arts for Learning After-School Enrichment Site Lead is a crucial ambassador and outward-facing role. They partner with the on-site teachers and artists to promote and support the program's vision and mission.

After-School Enrichment Site Lead staff are responsible for overseeing operations, providing mentorship, and oversight of all aspects of the After-School Enrichment site. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing student achievement, daily attendance, climate and culture, staff supervision, emergency procedures, and partnership connections.

Establish a positive and productive school climate for all staff and students.

Provide oversight of daily operations and the implementation of the learning instructional program to ensure that all students have access to unique, relevant, challenging, and engaging learning experiences.

Monitor and manage the site's data (i.e., attendance and assessments), ultimately be responsible for its timely and thorough collection and storage.

Ensure that parents/guardians of absent students are called daily to promote high rates of daily attendance.

Attend required training and meetings as directed by Arts for Learning Maryland.

Work cross-functionally with Arts for Learning Maryland to ensure smooth operation of the site, including teaching and learning, food and nutrition, transportation, student support and safety, and communications.

Respond to inquiries from parents and the community promptly and professionally with consultation from Arts for Learning Maryland.

Model and require that all staff engage in practices that promote high performance, ethical behavior, collegiality, and teamwork.

Manage the implementation of site policies.

Collaborate with and provide support for various partnerships and external stakeholders.

Excellent organizational, people management, and logistical planning skills; punctuality, ability to meet deadlines, timely and effective communication, and ability to demonstrate and require accountability.

Strong inclination to collaborate, share ideas, and work with the site staff and Arts for Learning teams.

Previous experience working with Arts For Learning, thus having a strong understanding of the program culture, logistics, procedures, and all position expectations.

An ability to create inclusive environments where all students’ unique gifts and talents are discovered and cultivated, and where students’ identities (racial, cultural, social, gender, etc.) are acknowledged, affirmed, and reflected around them.

A strong desire to fully integrate into a non-traditional learning environment where flexibility is strongly valued, and new and innovative ideas are cultivated and expected from all staff.

A willingness and desire to utilize restorative practices when conflict arises, both with staff and students.

An ability to examine biases and understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and their impact on policies and practices, especially related to the administration of public education.

Ability to have critical conversations and provide constructive feedback to Teachers, Teaching Artists, staff members, parents, students, and partners when necessary.
