Position Title
Emergency Medical Services Faculty, Part‑Time, Hourly – Health Sciences Division
Position SummaryPart‑time hourly employees support the primary instructional team in a variety of ways. Part‑time faculty work most often as support faculty members during lab sessions in the skills lab for EMT or paramedic courses. When in a support role they are expected to come to the class setting ready to begin instruction and possess mastery of the content they are expected to support.
Part‑time hourly employees may be offered the opportunity to teach primary education content, function as a lead instructor, or be awarded an adjunct faculty contract for consistent teaching in a specific course.
Mastery of EMT and paramedic content is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory. Outstanding interpersonal skills required, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of students (including those with special needs), faculty and staff. Ability to work as part of a team required. Knowledge of a variety of teaching delivery methods necessary. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
- Current Paramedic Certification – Licensure
- Maryland Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic
- Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board (MICRB) Level II Instructor, preferred
- National Certified EMS Educator (NCEE), preferred
- Associates degree mandatory, Baccalaureate preferred
Standard EMS equipment and supplies, including manikins and instructional models. Microcomputers/laptops; projection equipment; printers; copiers; adaptive technology for students with disabilities; general office equipment of all kinds.
Reporting StructureReports directly to the Primary Instructor of the course and the EMS Program Director, AD Health and Sciences Division.
Physical Demand SummaryResponsibilities involve deadlines and time‑driven conditions with a high volume of work and contact with students, faculty and staff. Must be able to work overtime and outside of normal daytime hours when necessary. Must be able to lift 125 pounds (250 pounds with a partner), meet a height of 33 inches, and move a distance of 10 feet.
