Maryland Science Center is seeking an enthusiastic educator for School Programs Instructor position. Instructors will present hands-on STEM classroom programs to visiting school groups. Applicant should be flexible, enthusiastic, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment. There may be opportunities to assist in the development and implementation of additional educational programming.
Basic Functions:- Present 45-minute classes on a variety of STEM topics to students PreK-grade 12 (primarily elementary and early middle school)
- Prepare and maintain materials, supplies, and classroom spaces
- Communicate professionally with teachers and chaperones
- Basic science concepts
- Informal elementary education
- Classroom management
- Utilize technology in preparation and presentation
- Flexibility for diverse groups and student needs
- Execute a lesson plan
- Clearly communicate STEM topics
- Feel comfortable presenting in front of groups
- Provide excellent guest service
Bachelor’s degree in science, education, or related field preferred. Experience in informal education/STEM instruction may be substituted for education.
Basic Requirements:Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Pay:$15.50/hour
Hours:9:45 am – 2:45 pm, 1-2 days per week, Tuesday-Friday
