SUMMARY The PreK Teacher Coach is a position that will support the Director and Assistant Director of Education with the implementation of a high-quality pre-kindergarten program as defined by the Maryland State Department of Education. The position will also support the alignment of early childhood education in the PreK classrooms to the Maryland Early Learning Standards, Maryland College and Career Standards.

This position will provide direct support to pre-kindergarten teachers and assistant teachers, working to support pre-kindergarten children in developing school readiness skills in language, literacy, mathematics, social foundations and physical well-being. The Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Coach will also oversee Maryland State Accreditation and Maryland Excels standards for high-quality programing for the full-day prekindergarten programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES Assists PreK teachers in planning effective early childhood instruction.

Conducts coaching for all PreK classrooms and supports teaching staff with lesson plan alignment with Maryland Early Learning Standards and/or Maryland College and Career Standards as required by the grant.

Works with the Curriculum specialists at each site to ensure PreK teachers and classrooms are fully compliant with grant requirements

Supports PreK teachers with the development, selection and modification of instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.

Assists teachers with the implementation of curriculum and aligning all lesson plans with Maryland Early Learning Standards and Maryland College and Career Standards.

Support teachers with planning and implementation towards the stated goals and objectives of the program

Provides technical assistance by modeling lessons, peer-coaching and conferences.

Assists staff in analyzing student achievement and observation data to improve classroom instruction.

Assists with planning and scheduling professional development opportunities for Pre-K personnel.

Conducts regular formal and informal observations of PreK classrooms including administering IQR assessments and CLASS observations.

Coordinates all elements of training and professional development for the PreK teaching staff with the Director and Assistant Director of Education.

Plans, coordinates and operates monthly meetings with all PreK teaching staff.

Tracks and maintains required training and professional development activities for each teacher and assistant teacher in the PreK program.

SECONDARY DUTIES Assists program leadership with all areas of classroom preparation and compliance for monitoring visits and reviews.

Applies knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in early childhood instruction for high-quality programing.

Works with other team members to develop relationship with the parents of enrolled children.

Attends MSDE meetings regarding classroom related grant requirements or topics related to early childhood education

Ensures all required classroom documents are complete and ready for submission monitoring visits and upon request

Attends Webinars and trainings related to PreK programming, education, curriculum, parent engagement or as related to the PreK grant.

Assists with planning and scheduling professional development opportunities for Pre-K personnel.

Monitors PreK teachers' reports pertaining to individual student growth and program accountability

Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, required.
3 years of successful experience teaching or coaching in a state funded private or public Prekindergarten program.

Experience working with people who are/have experience homelessness, living with substance abuse/mental health problems, and/or at-risk population.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to interact with people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Sound computer skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
