Description

The Johns Hopkins Department of Sociology seeks a sociologist of outstanding international reputation or promise for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Sociology. This position requires a PhD in Sociology. Priority will be given to a candidate with strong quantitative and computational skills and research focus on historical sociology and/or theory. Job duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sociology, conducting empirical research in high-impact fields of sociology, and advising undergraduate and graduate students.

DUTIES

Teach courses in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Sociology.

Qualifications REQUIREMENTS
  • Ph.D. in Sociology or related field.
  • Successful candidates will have a record of excellent empirical research in any field(s) of sociology and will join a growing, vibrant Department of Sociology within a School and University that foster a wide range of interdisciplinary conversations and collaborations. Applicants should have a record of published scholarship in sociology.
Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
