The Johns Hopkins William H. Miller III Department of Philosophy (Baltimore, MD) seeks a philosopher of outstanding international reputation to fill an endowed and named position at the rank of tenured Associate Professor. This position is for someone who specializes in any area of philosophy, except for the history of philosophy. (We have posted a distinct position for candidates in the history of philosophy, broadly construed.)
Job duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy, conducting research in the candidate's areas of specialization, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and standard service duties as assigned.
William H. Miller's transformative $75 million gift to the Philosophy Department reflects his lifelong appreciation of the discipline and seeks to establish the Johns Hopkins Philosophy Department as one of the world's leading departments. This addition will continue a major expansion of the Department.
Salary: $124,500 - $248,500
Salary RangeThe referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
