Working in close partnership with the president and campus community, the next provost will help shape Loyola’s future and realize the aspirations of its strategic plan, Together We Rise. Founded in 1852, Loyola is one of the nation’s oldest Jesuit institutions and a nationally recognized comprehensive university located in Baltimore, Maryland. Loyola combines the strengths of a rigorous liberal arts foundation with highly regarded professional and graduate programs, educating students to learn, lead, and serve in a diverse and changing world while remaining firmly grounded in its Jesuit commitment to educating the whole person.

The University enrolls approximately 4,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students, benefits from an engaged network of more than 80,000 alumni and is widely recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, student success, social mobility, and Jesuit values.

The provost leads the Office of Academic Affairs, which encompasses Loyola College of Arts and Sciences, the Sellinger School of Business and Management, and the School of Education, as well as a broad portfolio of academic support and student-focused units. The University offers more than 40 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs across these schools and is supported by more than 485 faculty members, including 344 full-time faculty.

Reporting directly to President Terrence Sawyer, the provost serves as the University’s chief academic officer, second‑ranking executive, and principal partner to the president on academic and institutional strategy. As a key member of the senior leadership team and the University’s senior administrative officer in the president’s absence, the provost provides leadership across the academic enterprise while helping advance Loyola’s institutional priorities and long‑term aspirations.
