Position: Percussion Teacher
Job Type: Part-Time, W-2 Employee
Schedule: 2-3 teaching days per week. Available teaching hours are Monday-Thursday, 2:00-8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.
-5:00 p.m. Teaching days are selected based on teacher availability and school scheduling needs.
Pay: $30-$35 per teaching hour, based on education and teaching experience, plus benefits
Baltimore School of Music is one of Maryland's premier community music schools, serving hundreds of students each week in a collaborative, student-centered environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic Percussion Teacher to join our faculty and help students of all ages build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy making music.

- Administrative support for scheduling, billing, and customer service
- Ongoing new student referrals
- Provide engaging, high-quality private percussion instruction to children, teens, and adults
- Teach 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons tailored to each student’s experience, interests, and goals
- Help students develop strong technique, rhythm, music-reading skills, and musicianship
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other performance opportunities
- Build positive relationships with students and families that support long-term musical growth
- Encourage participation in recitals and other school programs that enrich the student experience
- Maintain accurate lesson notes and communicate student progress when appropriate
- Participate in faculty meetings, recitals, and other school activities as requested
- Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent professional teaching experience preferred; current college students pursuing a degree in music are encouraged to apply
- Previous private percussion teaching experience
- Strong percussion performance skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to students of different ages, abilities, and musical interests
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for teaching and helping students grow as musicians
- Reliable availability during scheduled teaching days
- Authorization to work in the United States
