Position: Energy Marshal / Master Electrician / Foreman (Dat

Ascendion is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal (Owner’s Representative) to support large-scale data center development projects. The role provides independent oversight, assurance, and coordination of all hazardous energy control (Lockout/Tagout – LOTO) and electrical safety activities across construction and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Oversight & Assurance
    • Provide independent oversight of the Energy Isolation (LOTO) program across all project phases.
    • Validate that contractors effectively implement energy control procedures in alignment with project and regulatory requirements.
    • Act as the owner’s representative for hazardous energy control governance and compliance.
  • Construction & Commissioning Coordination
    • Coordinate and align energy isolation activities between General Contractors, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and owner operations teams.
    • Ensure all isolation activities are properly planned to minimize risk to live data center operations.
    • Participate in and support High‑Risk Activity (HRA) planning and sequencing.
  • Procedure Review & Approval Oversight
    • Review contractor‑developed MOPs, SOPs, and energy isolation procedures.
    • Verify all sources of hazardous energy are properly identified and controlled prior to execution.
    • Ensure compliance with LOTO standards, permitting processes, and risk assessments.
  • Auditing & Compliance Verification
    • Conduct regular field audits of electrical and mechanical isolation activities (LV/MV/HV systems).
    • Audit contractor adherence to LOTO procedures, permit‑to‑work systems, and applicable safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA).
    • Identify gaps, elevate risks, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Electrical Safety SME
    • Act as the primary owner‑side point of contact for all high‑risk electrical work activities.
    • Provide technical guidance on electrical safety requirements, arc‑flash risk mitigation and labeling, and proper PPE selection.
    • Support informed decision‑making around energized work and system energization.
  • Risk Management & Work Authorization
    • Review and validate hazardous energy risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and permit‑to‑work documentation.
    • Serve as the owner’s authority to challenge or stop unsafe work practices related to energy isolation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with owner project management teams, data center operations teams, Environmental Health & Safety, and commissioning and integration teams.
    • Attend daily coordination meetings, safety briefings, and project reviews.
    • Support cross‑functional alignment on safety and operational priorities.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Provide regular updates on audit findings, compliance status, risk exposure, and mitigation plans.
    • Maintain documentation to support quality assurance and project governance.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical systems / power distribution (LV/MV/HV) within mission‑critical construction or data center environments.
  • Strong expertise in lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs, hazardous energy control, and electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA).
  • Experience reviewing procedures, risk assessments, and high‑risk work activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an Owner’s Representative, Controlling Energy Marshal, or similar oversight role.
  • Data center development or operations experience.
  • Formal training or certifications such as NFPA 70E Electrical Safety, OSHA 10/30.
  • Experience working across construction and live operational environments.
Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $180,000 and $218,000 per annum, with adjustments based on geography, skills, education, and experience.
