Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Aerospace CAD Drafter/Designer with strong experience using CATIA to support the design and manufacture of aerospace and defense components and assemblies. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to create and maintain precise 3D models and 2D drawings in compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience working in regulated manufacturing environments and understands configuration control, revision management, and aerospace documentation standards.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D engineering drawings in CATIA
- Develop detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings for aerospace hardware
- Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and customer specifications
- Support engineers with design layouts, tolerance studies, and fit checks
- Process and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECNs)
- Ensure drawings comply with AS9100, customer, and internal standards
- Prepare drawings for manufacturing, inspection, and supply chain
- Maintain configuration control and revision history in PLM/PDM systems
- Participate in design reviews and manufacturing readiness reviews
- Support quality and manufacturing teams with drawing interpretation and updates
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience using CATIA (V5, V6, or 3
DEXPERIENCE) - Experience creating aerospace part and assembly drawings
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, customer standards, and models
- Experience working in regulated or configuration-controlled environments
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing
- Experience with sheet metal, machined parts, castings, or composite structures
- Familiarity with PLM systems such as ENOVIA, Teamcenter, or Windchill
- Knowledge of AS9100 / FAA / DoD documentation requirements
- Exposure to installation, tooling, or production support drawings
- CATIA 3D modeling and drafting
- Aerospace drawing standards and configuration control
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Cross-functional communication
- Ability to work in structured, quality-driven environments
