Job Title: Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineer / Designer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineer / Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and developing integrated MEP systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, and/or industrial projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical power distribution, and lighting systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations including load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and energy compliance reports.
- Develop detailed MEP drawings, layouts, schematics, and specifications.
- Perform system sizing and equipment selection.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national building codes and standards.
- Coordinate MEP systems with architectural, structural, and civil disciplines.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals for compliance with design intent.
- Conduct site visits to verify installation accuracy and resolve field issues.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure design accuracy.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on deliverables.
- Assist in cost estimation and value engineering efforts.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IECC, IPC, and other applicable codes.
- Stay updated on industry standards, energy efficiency guidelines, and emerging technologies.
- Support sustainable design initiatives and LEED-compliant projects where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 3–8+ years of experience in MEP engineering and design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and related design software.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with load calculation software and engineering analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
- Experience with energy modeling software.
- Experience in commercial, healthcare, or industrial building design.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination processes.
