Overview

The Reliability Manager must lead, coordinate, and manage maintenance, repair, and reliability programs for a large sugar refinery. The role involves managing a team of reliability engineers, maintenance supervisors, and technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operation. The manager executes structured work processes and systems to sustain reliability engineering and maintenance planning missions, fostering a proactive culture that values asset reliability, planning, and reliability excellence.

The position reports directly to the Refinery Manager and collaborates with other department heads.

Detailed

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of predictive and preventative maintenance programs and other reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Manage reliability engineers and integrate the role into the overall maintenance program to reduce chronic equipment issues impacting production.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Equipment Maintenance Plans to enhance plant asset performance.
  • Develop job plans for work orders that effectively utilize internal labor, materials, and contractors.
  • Create and maintain a standard job plan library.
  • Publish the weekly schedule and three‑week rolling forecast.
  • Ensure effective use and integration of SAP Plant Maintenance, condition monitoring, and other technologies, and that all work order job plans have proper documentation.
  • Manage the Maintenance Team Manager and their staff to complete preventive maintenance and work orders on time.
  • Collaborate with department heads on daily and long‑term plans to align departmental and refinery goals.
  • Prepare and administer the department’s daily budget; collaborate on major repair and capital budgets with the refinery manager.
  • Work closely with Safety, Environmental, and Quality teams to achieve refinery goals in these areas.
  • Partner with corporate engineering to develop capital projects and support new equipment installations.
  • Oversee all maintenance department safety‑related matters.
  • Provide training and develop employees in technology, work practices, and related areas.
  • Promote a teamwork‑oriented philosophy and hold team members accountable; provide counseling for performance gaps and take appropriate actions.
  • Stay current with laws and regulations affecting maintenance operations, such as ARC Flash.
Work Experiences
  • Minimum 7 years in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Expertise in maintenance and reliability, material management, planning, scheduling, and CMMS / EAM / ERP optimization.
  • Experience with RCM, failure mode identification, defect analysis, cause and effect analysis, loss elimination, probability determination, and failure consequences; FMEA, RCFA, and documentation skills are required.
  • Experience with belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, cranes, evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, motors, blowers, generators, gearboxes, rotary dryers, kilns, and vacuum pans.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
Education Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering:

    B.Ch.E., BSEE, BSME, or similar.
  • MBA or master’s degree in engineering is preferred.
  • PE preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • 2–5 salaried direct reports, 8–12 salaried indirect reports, 50+ hourly indirect reports.

SALARY PAY RANGE
: $143,000 – $265,000 plus bonus Benefits
